Dutch Maasdam Puff Pastry Cheese Sticks

Ingredients

200 gm Dutch Maasadam Cheese

4 Sheets Good Quality Puff Pastry

Smoked Paprika

1 Egg

Cooking Method

Preheat the oven to 180℃ and line two baking trays with baking paper.

Grate the Maasadam cheese.

Place a puff pastry sheet on a clean work surface and sprinkle over the grated cheese, dust with the smoked paprika. Lay another sheet of puff pastry over the top and gently press down a little.

Using a sharp knife, cut the sheet length ways into 7-8 even strips. Holding each end, twist each strip from the bottom towards the top to create a spiral. Gently place each pastry strip onto the prepared baking tray, approximately 2-3 centimetres apart.

Beat the egg and brush each one with the beaten egg. Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed.

Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.

Cook’s Tip

These cheese sticks will keep well in an airtight container for 3-4 days.

Serve with drinks, as part of a platter or in the kids lunch boxes.
